Election Excitement!

We are gearing up for the Presidential Election here in the Taylor Library!

First through third grades have been reading Duck for President to learn more about the election process.  Then, they get to cast their vote for their favorite way to eat corn - corn on the cob, caramel corn, or popcorn.

Check back later to find out the winner!

Fourth and fifth graders have been using the iPads to scan QR codes that link to various websites.  The students rotate among 8 different stations and then get to cast their vote for president through Google forms!

Who will win? Obama or Romney...

Here's the list of websites used to create QR Codes:

Catherine Fowler

Third graders are heading to the Frisco Heritage Museum this week, so Catherine Fowler came to speak to them about the history of Frisco from pioneers to present!

Students create a visual timeline showing which groups came to Frisco.

Students are able to interact with many of the artifacts Mrs. Fowler brings.

Thanks for coming, Mrs. Fowler!

Bluebonnet Books

Last month, fifth graders were able to explore the 2012-2013 Bluebonnet Books by scanning QR codes.  The codes led to information about the authors and book trailers.

I think the activity got them excited about it because the shelf has pretty much looked like this since then:

Yay!!!  Happy Reading!

BOOK BLAST!!!

Last week, we enjoyed our first BOOK BLAST!
We had every 1st-5th grade class come in and meet me, Mrs. Haveman, and check out books.

Just how many books did we check out last week?

Wow, Taylor Readers!  That's awesome!

I'm looking forward to seeing all of you again this week along with kindergarten!
